Aethercrafts are magical objects, which could range from small coin- and necklace-sized items to large installations and even entire structures or stretches of land which were, in one way or another, touched by the sorcery of the Age of Magic.
These objects are, unlike those modern magic items created from the Wellspring in the modern era, significantly more powerful, granting powers, casting spells or keeping effects alive that no modern-day sorcerer can replicate.
Some modern authors speculate that the ancient Shardspire, before its destruction, acted as an amplifier for spells cast by the Sorcerer-Kings of the ancient Luminarchate, thus allowing them to make what later books call their ‘World-Works’, whilst others opt for a different view, that the decadence of the Age of Magic led to an exhaustion of the Wellspring’s magical contents, thus draining most of the magical potential, rendering modern sorcerers and researchers unable to replicate the creation of Aethercrafts.
